Back again

I finally made it to NYC for the interview weekend - things have been going well so far. I got to spend the afternoon walking around my old neighborhood...I saw Bob Saget...very fun.

Just popping in to ask for lots of prayer tomorrow - it is going to be a long day of discernment meetings, formal interviews and pyschological testings. Whew. So, if you think about it, keep me and my frame of mind and peace of heart in your prayers tomorrow.

Thanks!!

Just a fun link

Nothing deep or profound - just a cool, European commerical. It takes awhile to download, but I think its worth it. Enjoy and happy Tuesday. :)

My weekend....

This was me on Friday. I never made it to New York, instead I spent 12 hours in airports. I arrived at the Lexington Airport at 8am on Friday, and my flight left for Charlotte at 9:30, where I was to catch my connecting flight to New York, along with another interviewee, Abby. I got to Charlotte with a 25 minute layover, raced through three terminals to board my plane just in time, only to sit on the turmack for an hour. The flight was full, and there were reports of bad weather in NYC, so the plane had taken on 800 extra gallons of fuel in case they had to circle the airport. But, with the full load of passengers and the extra fuel, we were too heavy to take off!! So, we sat on the ground for half and hour and burned off the extra fuel. As we started out towards the runway, the pilot came over the intercom with bad news, "Sorry folks, all flights into New York have been cancelled due to the weather." So we turned around and got off the plane. Abby and I grabbed our bags from downstairs, and then went up to check on other flights heading out. All flights into New York, Philly and Boston were cancelled. Can you imagine the chaos?! So, I called Lauren, the lady in charge of the interview weekend, and filled her in, and then went to check on getting a flight home. FOUR HOURS of standing in line waiting for a rebooking, I was given a flight back home, and landed in Lexington at 8:25pm. Twelve hours later, and I ended up right where I started. It was a long, frustrating, disappointing day. I got home and crashed and slept through most of Saturday. My interview weekend is being rescheduled, probably for the 30th.

Heading North

While all my friends here are preparing for spring break trips to Florida, Mexico and Puerto Rico (so jealous), I am preparing for something that seems very grown up to me. I am flying to NYC for the weekend, for an interview!! That's right, I got called to be part of an interview weekend for the Mission Intern position. I am really excited, and slightly nervous. I am having to make some big decisions coming up, and it all seems very weird. Soon I am going to be leaving something safe and comfortable for the unknown. I guess we will find out if I am ready!!

Anyway, just wanted to update everyone on what is going on. Be praying for me this weekend!! And I will let you know how it went when I get back on Monday!

New Music

Have any of you heard of Regina Spector? If not, you should check her out - not too shabby. There is a new girl in my small group, and we bonded over "chick-music" - Regina is some of the music she's been introducing me to. I am so excited to have that new music connection again. That is something I miss about being around Steph, Mary and Val. Also, my very-gay-hairdresser Doug told me that at 8pm on Friday nights on NPR there is a program called Ladies Night Out - it plays stuff like Lucinda Williams (another new one to me!) and our beloved Patty. I am of course always working on Fridays, but if you get a chance, someone should check it out and let me know how it is! :)
