My weekend....

This was me on Friday. I never made it to New York, instead I spent 12 hours in airports. I arrived at the Lexington Airport at 8am on Friday, and my flight left for Charlotte at 9:30, where I was to catch my connecting flight to New York, along with another interviewee, Abby. I got to Charlotte with a 25 minute layover, raced through three terminals to board my plane just in time, only to sit on the turmack for an hour. The flight was full, and there were reports of bad weather in NYC, so the plane had taken on 800 extra gallons of fuel in case they had to circle the airport. But, with the full load of passengers and the extra fuel, we were too heavy to take off!! So, we sat on the ground for half and hour and burned off the extra fuel. As we started out towards the runway, the pilot came over the intercom with bad news, "Sorry folks, all flights into New York have been cancelled due to the weather." So we turned around and got off the plane. Abby and I grabbed our bags from downstairs, and then went up to check on other flights heading out. All flights into New York, Philly and Boston were cancelled. Can you imagine the chaos?! So, I called Lauren, the lady in charge of the interview weekend, and filled her in, and then went to check on getting a flight home. FOUR HOURS of standing in line waiting for a rebooking, I was given a flight back home, and landed in Lexington at 8:25pm. Twelve hours later, and I ended up right where I started. It was a long, frustrating, disappointing day. I got home and crashed and slept through most of Saturday. My interview weekend is being rescheduled, probably for the 30th.

Wow Liz, that completely sucks. I can't imagine very many worse ways to spend 12 hours! The weather was really terrible on friday. It was the most snow I've ever seen. It was pretty cool but it sucks you have to reschedule!
